ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER 

(Professional Development and Quality Assurance of Teaching and Learning)

Salary Scale L13 – L17

Permanent contract from 1st September 2019

Specific responsibilities:

  • Establish and embed a clear vision for teaching and learning within a knowledge-rich curriculum, informed by research and current pedagogical thinking
  • Lead the professional development of teaching staff, including through collaborative subject communities
  • Co-ordinate a coaching programme to support individual teachers
  • Lead the quality assurance of teaching throughout the school

The Assessment Process will be:

  • in-tray exercise (20%)
  • presentation (20%)
  • interview panel (40%)
  • lesson observation (20%)

SENIOR ASSISTANT FACULTY PROGRESS LEADER – MATHEMATICS

          MPS/UPS + TLR 1a (£7851)

The school is looking to appoint an additional member of its Maths leadership team. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Faculty Progress Leader of Maths and STEM (who is a member of the School Executive Leadership Team) and will work within a team to improve student progress in Maths. The Faculty is also supported by the Deputy Head as part of a school’s line-management structure. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious candidate who is looking to continue on to leadership of Maths or a senior leadership position. This experienced and committed Faculty also contains two Assistant Heads and several newly or recently qualified teachers.

Job Description

The post will focus on supporting the Faculty Progress Leader in maintaining a high quality of teaching within the Faculty across key stages 3, 4 and 5 to ensure that students make good or outstanding progress from their starting points.

  • Assist the Faculty Progress Leader in maintaining a clear vision and strong and consistent ethos within the Faculty
  • Assist strategic planning of the Faculty, including evaluation of the curriculum
  • Ensure that assessment of student progress is razor-sharp at all key stages
  • Monitor the progress of all students and all groups and put strategies in place to address any progress that is not good, following the Diagnosis-Therapy-Testing model
  • Evaluate the quality of teaching using a variety of evidence which may include data analysis, lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny and student voice
  • Cultivate love of subject(s) by maintaining a high quality extra-curricular programme
  • Delegate other duties to staff as appropriate

The Assessment Process will be:

  • presentation (25%)
  • interview panel (50%)
  • lesson observation (25%)
