Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator
MPS/UPS + SEN allowance (£4,359)
Permanent, full-time contract with effect from 1st September 2020

The person appointed will be working as part of a team with a senior leader and an Assistant SENCo and will be accountable to the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteachers for the progress of SEND students in school. 

The person appointed should:  

• be an outstanding teacher, who models best practice to colleagues
• be able to demonstrate positive impact on the progress of SEN students in relation to external benchmarks
• have relevant SEN qualifications or training (the school will support candidates if further training if required)

The post will focus on ensuring that all SEN students have equal access to the curriculum and make good progress.  

• Maintain  a clear vision and strong ethos within the SEN team
Work with teachers to evaluate the curriculum to ensure that it promotes equality of access for SEN students and provide training and support for this
• Ensuring there is a student-focused approach to SEN provision including a robust process for identification of SEN needs, provision of support and regular review of the effectiveness of the support, through liaison with other professionals
• Monitor the progress of SEN students. Implement and evaluate strategies to address any progress that is not good, following the Assess-Plan-Do-Review model.
• Ensure that the school is compliant with the SEN Code of Practice and Equalities Act
• Delegate other duties to staff as appropriate

Faculty Progress Leader for Humanities and Languages
(TLR 1b  £10,025)
Permanent, full-time contract, with effect from 1st September 2020

The person appointed will be accountable to the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteachers for the progress of students within the Faculty.

Person Specification

The person appointed should:

  • have significant middle leadership experience or have undertaken NCSL leadership training
  • be able to demonstrate positive impact on student progress, in relation to external benchmarks
  • have experience of coaching colleagues and students, with clear impact

Job Description

The post will focus maintaining a high quality of teaching within the Faculty, to ensure that students make good or outstanding progress from their starting points.

  • Establish and maintain a clear vision and strong and consistent ethos within the Faculty
  • Drive the strategic planning of the Faculty including the evaluation of the curriculum
  • Ensure that assessment of student progress is razor-sharp at all key stages
  • Monitor the progress of all students and all groups and put strategies in place to address any progress that is not good, following the Diagnosis-Therapy-Testing model
  • Evaluate the quality of teaching using a variety of evidence which may include data analysis, lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny and student voice
  • Cultivate love of subject(s) by maintaining a high quality extra-curricular programme
  • Delegate other duties to staff as appropriate

 

The Assessment Process will be:                              

lesson observation (20%)

in-tray exercise (10%)

presentation (20%)

interview panel (50%)
