South Wirral High School is a co-educational foundation secondary school and sixth form located in Eastham, Merseyside, England. The school prides itself on its community ties, working closely with nearby primary schools to help with students’ transition to high school. South Wirral High School is a rapidly improving school with a growing student population – with around 1,000 students on roll across KS3-5, and oversubscribed for the upcoming school year.

          Tutors for English, Maths, Science (KS3 and 4)

Flexible contracts, £27.50 per hour
(Up to a maximum of 3 hours per day which equates to £82.50 per day, potentially £412 per week, £1,650 per month)

Person Specification

The person appointed should:

  • Be a qualified teacher of English, Maths or Science
  • No experience of teaching in secondary school is required, though this is desirable

Job Description

The post will focus on providing individual or small group (maximum 3 students) tuition. Tuition will take place mainly on the school premises from 3pm to 6pm each day, and occasionally within school hours.

  • Work with class teachers to identify individual needs and gaps in learning
  • Provide individual / small group tuition for sequences of at least 6 tuition sessions at one week intervals, in a way that is consistent with how the students are taught in school (training would be provided)
  • Tuition would be predominantly face-to-face
  • Set and mark a weekly homework, using the school’s online learning packages

TEACHING ASSISTANT – LEVEL 1

Fixed term contract for 1 year (with a view to a permanent contract) from September 2021
30 hours 45 minutes weekly
(we will consider requests for fewer part-time weekly hours)
39 weeks per year
Salary range: Band C (£13,465 to £13,734)

The person appointed will join an experienced and innovative SEND team supporting students with a range of special educational needs, across the entire school. Ideally the applicant should have recent and relevant experience in a similar role or experience in the pastoral care of young people with SEND in another sector.

You will be working with students providing additional support to them during school hours. Assisting the learning of key stage 3 and 4 students, you will be working with a variety of students in the classroom, as well as on a one-to-one basis when required. The post will provide a professional development opportunity for anyone considering a career in teaching or working with young people.
