πŸŽ‰ Festival of Sport is almost here! πŸ…βš½πŸThis Friday 18th July, we’re thrilled to host our annual Festival of Sport at South Wirral High School - a celebration of teamwork, energy and school spirit! πŸ’ͺπŸŒˆπŸ—“ The Schedule:Period 1 & 2: Year 8Period 3 & 4: Year 7Period 5: Year 9πŸ“Students should go straight to the sports hall at the beginning of their designated period.🀝 This isn’t your typical sports day - instead of individual events, all KS3 students will take part in team-based sporting activities, designed to promote collaboration, inclusion and house pride. It’s a chance for everyone to get involved, earn house points, and enjoy gender-neutral sporting opportunities like football and dodgeball.πŸ‘• Important Reminders:Come to school in full correct PE kit (red t-shirt, black shorts/joggers/leggings/cycling shorts, and trainers). No 'hot pants' style shorts - students wearing incorrect kit will be asked to change or miss out on the activities.Bring a water bottle - this can be filled at break and lunch or before the activities. Once the events begin, students won’t be able to re-enter the school for water.β˜” In the event of poor weather, normal lessons will take place.Let’s make this our best Festival of Sport yet! πŸ™ŒπŸŽŠThank you for your continued support! β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™ ... 🧠 Powerful Assembly on the Legacy of Anthony Walker 🧠Yesterday, our Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in a deeply moving and thought-provoking assembly led by Catherina from the Anthony Walker Foundation πŸ’›The session explored the legacy of Anthony Walker and shone a light on the importance of standing up against racism, hate crime, and prejudice in all its forms. Catherina shared Anthony’s story, inspiring students to reflect on their own roles in building a more just and inclusive society. We are proud to say our students conducted themselves with real maturity – they were engaged throughout, asked insightful questions, and took part in meaningful discussions. Some even went a step further by creating powerful leaflets afterwards, sharing what they had learned and how they plan to make a difference. ✨We are excited to continue working with the Anthony Walker Foundation to promote equality, challenge discrimination, and empower our young people to be changemakers. πŸŒπŸ•ŠοΈFind out more about the foundation’s work here: www.anthonywalkerfoundation.com ...
