About The School

South Wirral High School is a comprehensive school located in Eastham on the Wirral and has been educating boys and girls since 1985. The school was formed by the merger of Eastham and Bromborough Secondary schools. We also operate a highly successful Sixth Form college for students from across Wirral.

We are proud of the excellent reputation we have in the local community, as a result of a record of success in all aspects of school life. Transition to Secondary School

Here at South Wirral we offer a unique transition programme to help ensure students start to secondary school is a highly successful one. Our transition programme starts from the moment you are allocated your place. You will receive a welcome pack through the post with information regarding the school. Other stages of our programme include:

  • Visits to your primary school
  • Welcome day
  • Summer School
  • ‘Lighting Fires lessons’
  • First day of term has only year 7 students in

Sixth Form @ South Wirral

Sixth Form @ South Wirral is our highly successful Sixth Form College. Based on the same site as our high school but with their own Sixth Form Hub, learning resource rooms and access to school facilities. Students are given the opportunity to join our Chromebook 1:1 programme as part of studying in our Sixth Form.

Students have a plethora of enrichment activities available to them whilst they study with us to help make their university, apprenticeship or job applications shine.


South Wirral High School and Sixth Form @ South Wirral’s alumni group has been established since 2016 with the aim of connecting with past students. This allows alumni to share their experiences and advice with current students further helping them to see the opportunities available to them in.

On Thursday 18th South Wirral will be taking part in all things LORIC - focusing on a different attribute each lesson. Students will be in normal timetabled lessons, but with a twist...Using their initiative in English, Year 7's will create an island, year 8's will play a Gothic conventions board game, and year 9's will take part in a collaborative writing task...In Maths, Year 7 will use their resilience to construct a rocket, Year 8's will be Organised and take part in a murder mystery game, whilst year 9 will be resilient and take on some transformations.Students will apply resilience and character in French; year 7's learning a French Song for Francovision whilst year 9 look at the Tour De France...In History, students will apply Organisation and Character to an escape room, whilst in Geography, they will be using their initiative with some on-site field work...Take a look at what each subject has to offer on Thursday ...
