  • Transition from Primary to Secondary

Our close relationship with local primary schools is reinforced by our regular contact involving both visits from our current students to perform to younger children, and inviting primary students into our school to see how things work when you make the move up to Secondary School.

Our ‘Moving On Up’ booklets are a helpful guide to both Parents and Students so you know what to expect when you become part of the South Wirral family.

  • Time To Explore

When you begin at South Wirral High School you may have a few friends from Primary School in your class, but the best way to make new friends is to experience fun activities with them – and our students have plenty of opportunities to do so with our extensive range of extra-curricular activities and clubs.

  • The Pledges

We are always challenging our students academically but a major strength of our school is all of the enrichment and extra-curricular activities we offer to all students. For example residential trips, guest speakers, extra-curricular clubs, charity work and educational trips that take place. When we look at all the opportunities we offer to the students we can group them under 10 distinct headings we have called each of these different headings or categories ‘Pledges’ – a pledge is ‘a promise to do or give’ and we have identified 10 pledges that we want to offer all our students to help them develop culturally, creatively and socially throughout their time at South Wirral.

  • Through Sixth Form and Beyond…

We are very proud of our Sixth Form achievements – and with the culture we have throughout the entire school – students leave us with a fantastic set of results but also as well-rounded individuals prepared for University or the world of work.

South Wirral helped prepare me for both university and working life beyond

Adam Garland, 2015 Student, now studying Psychology BA (Hons) at The University of Liverpool

Teachers know your name and go above and beyond to help if there are any issues or queries. South Wirral helped prepare me for both university life and working life beyond that by teaching me to achieve the best of my ability and to also be an independent learner. South Wirral also offered many opportunities that both help my CV stand out but also gave me invaluable experience such as participation in a scheme in which I worked with younger children to help them with their mathematics.
