Dear Parents and Carers,
We are writing to confirm that South Wirral High School will be open today. This decision aligns with our obligation under Department for Education (DfE) guidelines to ensure schools remain open wherever it is safe and practical to do so.
We want to reassure you that a thorough risk assessment has been conducted, and the following factors have been carefully considered:
- Transport and Accessibility:
- While some local public transport services may experience delays, school buses are operational, and we are confident that the majority of students and staff can travel safely.
- Please plan extra time for journeys and encourage your child to exercise caution, particularly on icy surfaces if walking to school
- Site Safety:
- Our premises team has worked diligently to grit and clear pathways, ensuring that key areas of the school site are safe for use. However, we advise all students and staff to remain vigilant on arrival and keep to all cleared areas.
- Staffing Levels:
- We have confirmed that enough staff members can travel to school to ensure both safe supervision and effective teaching throughout the day. Should this change within the next 30 minutes we will inform you asap
- Weather Forecast
- We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for today
We understand that for some families, travel may still pose challenges. If you feel it is unsafe for your child to travel to school, please inform the office as soon as possible via [email protected] or 0151 327 3213 and this can be supported
All lessons will run as scheduled, and we will provide updates should there be any changes to the situation during the day. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the latest information.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Kind regards,
