Well done to Play Unified Sports Leaders Joel Johnson and Olivia Ellison-Burkhill who represented our school with distinction as they completed phase 2 of Project COME IN, in Rome.
The project started earlier in the year with a trip to Newquay where our leaders began a European collaboration to design a toolkit to create more inclusive sport opportunities with the aim to increase participation of young people with disabilities in sports. The project includes several organisations – OPES, ENGSO Youth, Special Olympics Europe Eurasia (Italy), ANESTAPS (France), SPARC (England) and Special Olympics GB being represented by Joel and Olivia. Our students are leading the way regionally and nationally with their delivery of inclusive sports and it was amazing to be able to contribute so much to such a worthwhile project. Thank you to SOGB for this opportunity.
“Play Unified has helped me gain confidence and skills that will help me later in life. I delivered a small speech about our project, and had fun doing it. I wish to continue with Unified Sports and would recommend people come join in with some of our clubs” – Joel
