Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year from us all at South Wirral High School.
School will open to all students on Tuesday January 4th.
There are 3 important points to note.
- As mentioned before Christmas, there will be a staggered start to the day to allow students to have a lateral flow test, with your permission. Please arrange for students to arrive at the school gate at the following times.
Year Group | Time |
Year 7 | 8:45am |
Year 8 | 9:45am |
Year 9 | 10:45am |
Year 10 | 11:45am |
Year 11 | 12:45pm |
Sixth Form | 1:45pm |
- I realise this may cause some inconvenience so thank you for your understanding and co-operation. It is important that students do not arrive earlier than their allotted time. If you have not yet given your permission for your student to be tested, simply send them in with a note.
- Students will be asked to wear a face covering in lessons, at least until January 26th. Please send your student into school with a face covering. This decision has been taken as a last resort to ensure school can re-open in the current circumstances.
- The rules on isolation have changed slightly. It is now possible to end isolation after 7 days. The full guidance is listed below.
Once again, thank you for your co-operation. Our main priority is to ensure that school is open and safe every day.
Best wishes,
Mr Goodwin
Latest guidance for positive Case
You must still self-isolate as soon as symptoms develop, or when you receive a positive test result if you do not have symptoms.
New guidance means you are now only required to self-isolate for the following seven days, instead of 10.
Two negative lateral flow tests (LFT) are required to end self-isolation: the first no earlier than day six, followed by a second test result 24 hours later.
If both tests are negative – and you do not have a high temperature – you can stop self-isolating immediately (on day seven). If the day six test is positive, further tests can be taken on subsequent days, always adhering to the same criteria – that you must receive two negative tests, 24 hours apart, in order to end self-isolation.
Close Contacts
If you have been a close contact of a positive case you should take a daily lateral flow test for 7 days after the contact to ensure you remain negative.
