Earlier in the year, we were successful in applying for a grant from Wirral Council to help us rejuvenate a flower bed at the front of the school.
With help from staff from Gordale Garden Centre, Mr Stewart & Mr Dougan drew up a list of plants and flowers that will – over the course of the year – showcase the school’s traditional colours of Red, Teal and Purple along with the additional house colours of Lilac, Yellow, Green & Blue.
With so many children of key workers attending the school throughout the lockdowns, the school have dedicated the garden to NHS staff for their service throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Our DT teacher Mr Davies used the school laser cutter to produce a wonderful plaque, which also celebrates the essential workers that have helped the local community thrive in the most difficult of times.
Deputy Headteacher, Mr Cloherty, said
“We were grateful to receive this grant from Wirral Council’s Eco Schools team and are delighted to be able to brighten up the school grounds with such an eye-catching flower bed. It is a small but fitting dedication to those from the Bromborough & Eastham area who have pulled together to help each other through these most trying of times. We hope the garden brings enjoyment to students and their families for years to come.”
