On Wednesday 12th July we will welcome our new Year 7’s and their parents to the school for our annual Welcome Day and Evening.
Students will spend the whole day with us (8.40am – approximately 3.00pm). They should come dressed as they would for a normal day at their Primary School. They will take part in a variety of activities, which will help them get to know staff in school and also their new classmates. They will also be told which of our four Houses they will be in – Laird, Mayer, Stanley or Wilson and will meet their Head of House, who will be looking after them for the next five years.
Students will need to bring with them in a bag:
A packed lunch, including a drink
A pen
A pencil
Training shoes for sports activity during lunchtime
Their Achievement Passport Folder that was issued to them by their Primary School (if it has not already been handed in).
During the day your son or daughter will have found out which House they belong to. When you arrive at school you will be guided to the appropriate House Meeting where you will meet the Head and Assistant Head of House, tutors and some of our students. The meeting will include a display of uniform as well as information about how the school works with details, for example, about homework, assessments and reports. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and speak to the Head of House if there is a specific problem relating to your child. Our Special Needs Co-ordinators will also be available.
As you will know, we are a popular school and as a result of this it would be very uncomfortable to fill the Hall with so many students and their parents, so Mr Goodwin will visit each House Meeting to speak with you.
From 5.00pm – 6.30pm there will be an opportunity to purchase a school badge and tie
