Update from Mr Goodwin

outside area of south wirral high school

On Tuesday 9th June 2020 Wirral secondary head teachers met as a group with Public Heath Wirral and were reassured to hear from them that there are no public health reasons why we should not move forward with our plans for wider educational participation from the 15th June.  Public Health Wirral was reassured by the detailed risk assessments that all the schools have in place and are confident that these ensure that we are offering safe environments for students and staff.

So, all Wirral secondary schools are moving ahead with our plans to re-open school for Year 10 and 12 students from Monday June 15th.

At South Wirral, each student will begin with one 30 minute one-to-one progress interview, by appointment only. Staff will be in touch with you to arrange this. A Home School Agreement has been posted out today, which should be brought to the progress interview. There will be only a very small number of students on site at any one time, all socially distanced. We hope that this interview will reassure students about what school will be like moving forward.

The final risk assessment will be made available for you to read, on our school website, by the end of the week.

We are looking forward to seeing all our year 10s and 12s over the next week, as we prepare for formal lessons to begin from June 22nd for year 10 and June 29th for year 12.

Meanwhile, school continues to further develop our virtual learning. Please keep an eye out for our weekly bulletins on this.

From Monday onwards we will inform parents every day about the activities on offer.
