Dear Parent/Carer,
We have been overwhelmed with positive feedback on the transition material and activities we have published so far. We are glad the videos have been helpful and we’ve loved looking through all the wonderful work completed by our new year 7s.
As you know, we have been unable to run many of our usual face-to-face transition activities but we are glad to announce that we are able to run a special Year 6 to 7 transition day in the week commencing 17th August.
Over the week we will be inviting 40 students in per day to take part in some special lessons, meet curriculum and pastoral staff and purchase some uniform and equipment. Each day will run from 9.00am 2.30pm. Letters are being sent out with information on what day your son/daughter will be invited into school.
On this day they should enter through the main gates and report to reception where a member of the team will be there to greet them. They should wear their own clothes and some trainers suitable for our PE session at the end of the day. A bag with some writing equipment, a water bottle, some sun screen and a hat would useful. Students will not need to bring any lunch however as everyone will be provided with a hot meal at lunchtime from the canteen.
At the end of the day there will be an opportunity for parent/carers to purchase school ties in the correct House colour, blazer badges and some specialist equipment, such as scientific calculators, at subsidised prices. We will also be accepting payment for school lockers; lockers are £20 for 5 years which includes a £5 deposit to be returned at the end of the hire period.
The school year will start on Wednesday 2nd September for Year 7 only. On this day students should arrive at school, ready for an 8.40am start, and enter via the Student Entrance. The pastoral team will be there to meet them. Students should be in full school uniform and have all their equipment.
Regards
Mr Chitty
