As part of our Careers Information Advice & Guidance, Mrs Woolham invited in a number of visitors to speak to our students regarding what life after South Wirral High School and Sixth Form @ South Wirral could look like for them.
In the morning, students took part in a carousel of talks and tasks from:
• Liverpool John Moores University, discussing the benefits of choosing to go to university, alongside important topics such as student finance and living costs.
• Apprenticeships, exploring all of the different types of apprenticeships available to them, including many that students may not have previously realised existed.
• West Cheshire College – a local provider offering a range of alternative higher education options.
During lesson 3, we held an army and ‘careers in the forces’ presentation in the Main Hall for all of the students, who then took part in a Q&A. This was followed by an apprenticeship workshop – with advise on how to search for apprenticeships and other top tips.
Finally, in the afternoon students were encouraged to go over their CV with expert guidance, and taught new interview skills that will come in handy when they enter the world of work.
