Sixth Form students at South Wirral High School were celebrating some superb A Level and BTEC results, building on the successes of previous years for our Sixth Form. In particular, vocational results were very strong. This year the school sees the average grade of students in both A level and vocational qualifications improving which is testament to the hard work of both staff and students.
The majority of students secured their first choice at university as a result of achieving high grades and securing their conditional offers in a range of courses.
These include:
Natasha Campbell (Distinction* – PE, Distinction* Travel & Tourism, Distinction – Health & Social Care) working towards a Catering qualification before going to University next year.
Olivia Cox (B – Psychology, B – English Literature, Merit – ICT) currently considering a number of University offers.
Joe Ward (C – Physics, C – Geography, C – Biology) who will be studying Engineering at the University of Liverpool.
Adam Pugh (B – Geography, B – Physics, B – Psychology) who will go on to study Psychology, also at the University of Liverpool.
Ray Keenan (A – Media, A – Psychology, D – German) who will be studying Psychology.
A number of students have opted to study a wide variety of courses at University including Acting, Dance, French and German, Environmental Science, English Literature, Music Management and Motorsport Engineering. This reflects the school’s drive to provide a rich curriculum for all students that allows them to realise their potential in their passions.
Other students secured a range of alternative destinations including the Health Care, Government and Construction apprenticeships.
Simon Goodwin, Headteacher, said:
“In a challenging year for students, we are all immensely proud of the students’ achievements and believe that the success they have achieved is genuine and not diluted by the current situation. We wish them every success in the future. These results are the product of many years of hard work and dedication by the students and support from parents.”
Everybody associated with Sixth Form @ South Wirral is proud of the achievements of all of our students as they now prepare for the next exciting chapter of their lives. As always, many of the real success stories are where students have exceeded all expectations through sustained hard work and excellent teaching. We would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved in enabling our students to achieve their potential.
