Education has been taking place on the site of South Wirral High school since 1969 when Eastham Secondary School first opened its doors on the 4th September 1969.
The year 2019 is an important year in our history. Over the last 50 years, around 10,000 students will have passed through our doors. We know that many of these students will have gone on to do incredible things with their lives and we would love to hear from them. The students of yesterday are the role models for the students of today.
South Wirral High School was established in 1985, by the merger of ‘Eastham Secondary School’ and ‘Bromborough Secondary School’. It is situated on the former Eastham Secondary School site. This year will see a number of events to mark the 50th anniversary of education on this site including performances, community events and historical exhibitions.
This is where you come in…
We want to make contact with as many past students as possible to find out what you are up to nowadays. It would be great if anyone in our local community has stories about the school, the merger and photos from our school’s history including dating back to when the site was a prisoner of war camp during World War 2, and beyond.
Past students can also take this opportunity to join our facebook alumni group at Facebook Alumni Group
If you have any stories, photos etc that may be useful in our exhibition please get in touch by filling in the form below or emailing [email protected]. You can also tweet us using the hashtag #SouthWirralAt50 or message us via Facebook.
