How to apply

If you would like to make an application to join our school, you need to complete an application form on your councils website. This will be based on where you live e.g. If you live in the Wirral it is Wirral LEA, If you live in Cheshire it is CWAC.

It is important to note that all applications are dealt with equally as per our school admissions policy. A copy of which can be downloaded using the link below. Whether you live in Wirral or Cheshire makes no difference to how your application is dealt with.

Open Events

Come and have a look for yourself at one of our Open Evening or Open Morning events. If you cannot make any of these email us on hello@southwirral.wirral.sch.uk and we advise next steps.

Submit Application Form

Log onto your council’s school application portal (Links below) and complete your application. Name South Wirral High School as one of your three choices and submit the form. This must be completed by 31st October.

Places Announced

On the 1st March you will receive an email from your council informing you if you have been allocated a place at South Wirral High School. If you haven’t been allocated a place you are able to make an appeal with your council.

Things To Know First

All of South Wirral High School’s applications are handled by Wirral Education Authority. Some important points to know about the application process:

  • Our school’s admission number is 212.
  • Applications from Wirral or Cheshire based families are dealt with exactly the same.
  • If we receive less than 212 applications, everyone who wants a place gets a place
  • If we receive more than 212 applications our over subscription criteria is applied. This can be found be clicking the link below.

Applying for a secondary place

Admissions for South Wirral High School are handled by Wirral LA. You will need to appeal/make a late application to South Wirral High School via one of the two routes below depending on where you live.

If you live in Wirral follow the steps below:

  1. Download a copy of the appeals form from the Wirral schools admissions website.
  2. Complete the appeals form.
  3. Once completed send to schoolappeals@wirral.gov.uk.

 

If you live in Cheshire follow the steps below:

If parents would like to appeal and make a late application to another school, like South Wirral High School, they should do so by emailing admissions@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk  with their request.

These applications will then be sent over to Wirral LEA for applications to be reviewed.

The Cheshire West admissions team can also be contacted on 0300 123 7039.

Admission to Wirral secondary schools is coordinated by the council. Wirral secondary schools cannot offer places directly to parents. 

 

Before applying, please discuss the reason for the transfer with the child’s current school.
 
We recommend that you apply online. If you are not able to apply online, download and complete the form. 
 
Please email the completed form to schooladmissions@wirral.gov.uk or return it to the postal address provided on the Wirral Council website. Posted application forms can take more than 7 days to arrive with the Admissions team.
