Update from Mr Goodwin – 17th March

Dear Parent,

Please be assured that school is open as normal today, with almost a full staff of teachers.

The children have been fantastic. They have been washing their hands regularly. Staff are on hand to remind them about this, at breaks and lunchtime. They have been very positive, cheerful and kind to each other. They are benefiting from a normal school routine.

If school is forced to close at any time, then there is a full contingency plan in place, which will ensure that education continues. If that happens I will communicate with you via email and the front page of the school website will contain all the necessary information for you.

Following last nights announcement, I have cancelled some events that would be classed as non-essential such as parents evenings, governors meetings and sports fixtures with other schools. Trips have been postponed but can be re-scheduled after Easter. The Year 8 Parents Evening on Wednesday April 1st has been postponed.

The scale of student absence from school means that it is very difficult for teachers to set work for absent students and carry on with their normal teaching load. In these circumstances we will prioritise year 11,12 and 13.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If school is forced to close, all students will have work set.
