Message from the Headteacher

Dear parent/carer,

A very warm welcome to all our new South Wirral High School students, and their families, who will be joining us in September. We are very excited to meet you all to welcome you to your new school.

The process will be different this year as we are constrained by current circumstances, however, we have set up this web-based resource containing some of the information we traditionally distribute on our Welcome Day & Evening. Year 7 Welcome Day this year will now be held virtually on Friday 2nd July with a parents event the evening prior. We are planning for 4 days of summer transition activities for every student during the week of 9th August.

On this page, you will find:

  • A Data Collection Form (Please complete these as a matter of urgency)
  • Welcome Festival videos
  • ‘Moving on Up’ Transition Booklets & Prospectus
  • Messages from our Student Welfare Officer & Assistant SENCO
  • A link to our Google Classroom

We will be in touch again regarding school ties & badges and are hoping to be able to meet every one of you as soon as circumstances allow. In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries please contact us on 0151 327 3213 or

Mr Goodwin

Google Classroom

We have set up a course on our virtual learning platform, Google Classroom, for students to access a range of activities and information for transition. Keep an eye on the page for regular updates and the opportunity to speak to teachers before you join us. You should have received your login details through the post, but if you need any help – email

Short assignments and more information will be added over the coming months, including:

  • Learn about our LORIC Pledges
  • Treasure Island Literacy Task
  • Meet The Staff
  • Learn the Alphabet in Sign Language

Parents & carers – please make sure you complete this Data Collection form as soon as possible. This should only take 10-15 minutes and includes information on emergency contacts, medical conditions, trip consent and more.

Miss Fidal - Assistant SENCO

Hello, I’m Miss Fidal and I am the Assistant SENCO. My job is to make sure that every student with special educational needs or a disability can make the best possible progress at school. If you have any questions about the SEND department, or our provision, please send me a message here.

Claire Holden - Student Welfare Officer

Hi everyone, My name is Claire and I am the Student Welfare Officer here at school. I support the House Progress Leaders and the teachers to make sure everyone enjoys their time at South Wirral. I also work closely with the Local Authority, CAMHS, and Social Services. If you have any questions about the transition to secondary school specifically in relation to these outside agencies then please send me a message here.

As we have been unable to welcome you into the building, we have held 3 transition related video calls with students and parents/carers. If you have missed these or would like to re-watch - you can see them below
