Festive Fun and Community Spirit Shine on our Christmas Jumper and Hat Day

Christmas cheer was in full swing as we celebrated a hugely successful Christmas Jumper and Hat Day. From sparkling sweatshirts to jolly hats, an impressive array of festive clothing brightened every corridor and classroom, creating a joyful atmosphere enjoyed by students and staff alike.

This year’s event was not only about spreading seasonal spirit but also about supporting an incredible cause. We are proud to be raising money for Blood Bikes, a volunteer-led charity that provides a vital out-of-hours medical delivery service for the NHS. The excitement in school was even higher than usual as we welcomed Blood Bikes volunteers to join us for the morning’s festivities.

The volunteers greeted students at the gates as they arrived, their bright bikes and warm smiles setting a fantastic tone for the day. At breaktime, they joined students in the quad, where groups gathered to chat with them and learn more about the inspiring work they do for our community. A particular highlight was seeing students get the chance to sit on the Blood Bikes themselves—an experience many described as unforgettable!

Throughout the day, the school was filled with a wonderful sense of fun and shared purpose. Students commented on how much they enjoyed the unique and memorable start to their morning, and the festive atmosphere continued right through to the final bell.

We are especially looking forward to awarding prizes for the best Christmas jumper and hat, though with so many creative and colourful outfits on display, choosing winners will certainly be a challenge!

We are proud to announce that this morning alone, we raised a huge £330 for this worthy cause and our fundraising is continuing. In addition to today’s fundraising, we are also running a Christmas Raffle, giving students and staff the chance to win a delicious handmade gingerbread house, with all proceeds further supporting the vital work carried out by the Blood Bikes volunteers.

Overall, it has been a fantastic day of community spirit, festive joy, and meaningful fundraising. Thank you to everyone who took part—and to the incredible Blood Bikes volunteers, Mike, Martin, Steve, Peter and Mal, for making the day extra special.

Headteacher Mike Cloherty commented: ‘We are proud to support the Blood Bike charity and the amazing work they do both locally and nationally. Our fundraising is about supporting a worthy cause and enabling our students to display the excellent values they have’
