A very warm welcome to all our new South Wirral High School students, and their families, who will be joining us in September. We are very excited to meet you all to welcome you to your new school. I hope that the information here will help answer any questions you may have.
Please start by completing the two data collection forms below in as much detail as you can. After that you should watch our ‘A Day In The Life’ video which will help you get a real feel for life as a year 7 here at South Wirral. Then you will see the ‘Moving On Up’ transition booklets for students and one for parents/carers.
There is also an introduction to Claire Holden, our student welfare officer and Miss Fidal from the SEND department. If you have any questions for them specifically please submit them here.
Finally you will see information on our Treasure Island transition literacy task. You will soon be receiving a hard copy of the transition task booklet in the post which we hope you will enjoy completing.
We are hoping to be able to meet everyone of you as soon as circumstances allow but in the mean time if you have any questions of queries please contact us on 0151 327 3213 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi everyone, My name is Claire and I am the Student Welfare Officer here at school.
I support the House Progress Leaders and the teachers to make sure everyone enjoys their time at South Wirral. I also work closely with the Local Authority, CAMHS, and Social Services. If you have any questions about the transition to secondary school specifically in relation to these outside agencies then please send me a message here.
Hello, I’m Miss Fidal and I am the Assistant SENCO.
My job is to make sure that every student with special educational needs or a disability can make the best possible progress at school.
If you have any questions about the SEND department, or our provision, please send me a message here.
At no point are you to get worried if you cannot do some of the tasks or find the text hard to understand, yes, this booklet will be challenging but all we ask is that you do your very best.
This is how you should use your booklet:
The aim is to do as much as you can, in your very best writing, using wonderful word choices, spelling and punctuation. Bring this booklet with you when you start school in September and hand it to your new English Teacher.
We invite our new students to send in questions to Mr Goodwin, who will answer a selection in a video we are putting together. The submission deadline has now passed, but feel free to email any queries you have to email@example.com
