Annual Wirral School’s Football Tournament

It’s that time of year again, the Annual Wirral School’s Football Tournament run by Wirral’s Safer School’s Partnership. The competition kicked off to a great start, securing the overall victory for South Wirral High School’s Girls’ team. Our boys fared well, taking third place in the tournament, beaten by St Mary’s and Ridgeway High School.

A Wirral Safer Schools Officer, PC Rose Wise was at the game and said:
“The student teams were well behaved and had a great sporting attitude. Many Wirral schools took part, and students’ sported a fantastic ‘fair play’ attitude. It was a great success.”

Safer Schools Officers are posted to work in nine Wirral schools, aiming to reduce anti-social behaviour, victimisation and criminality within the school environment. Not only this, but SSOs support vulnerable young people transitioning from primary to secondary, as well as identifying and putting preventative measures in places for those at risk of offending.
