We offer three courses at South Wirral in Personal Finance. This is not customary in all schools, despite the current financial climate, but we feel this is a useful area for students to have the opportunity to learn a key life skill.
Personal Finance also contributes to the school curriculum by developing students’ abilities to analyse the information presented them, deciding what is “the truth” and what information and knowledge is needed to make their own judgements. Personal Finance will often challenge the decisions made in the current financial climate and discuss current financial topics.
Personal Finance is a subject that transcends cultural boundaries and its importance is universally recognised. However, the differences that can appear in cultural/religious views to debt are discussed at Year 12.
